American Teens Talk - Alex

INTERVIEWER: What have you been doing this week? ALEX: Well, this week my cousins came down from New York and we celebrated Thanksgiving at my house with the other side of the family that is in Charlotte. We had a turkey, and everybody brought something, like a dessert, and we all just sat at the table and had fun. And afterward we played games. INTERVIEWER: Are there any other foods that are Thanksgiving traditions for your family besides the turkey? ALEX: We always have my grandmother's broccoli and cheese casserole, which sounds gross but it's really delicious. We had mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes. My mom made her amazing orange-cranberry relish, and this year we also had ham, which was different. We also had pecan pie and pumpkin cheesecake. INTERVIEWER: What kind of games did you play? ALEX: Well, this year we played Wii basketball and tennis. INTERVIEWER: Did you go shopping on Friday? ALEX: We went to Charlotte because it was my aunt's birthday, so we hung out with them for a while and watched the football game between Auburn and Alabama. My mom went to a bookstore for a while, but we didn't do any other shopping. INTERVIEWER: What have you been doing today? ALEX: Well, my dad and I went for a run together, and then we decided to stop and take a break here to get something to drink. It's a little cold outside. INTERVIEWER: How far do you run? ALEX: Well, it'll be five miles after we run back home from here. INTERVIEWER: Did you do anything else this week? ALEX: Well, I saw the new Harry Potter movie, which is very good, with a lot of my friends. Tonight I'll babysit my little brother and my sister so my parents can go see the Harry Potter movie together. INTERVIEWER: Is there anything that you would like to say to kids in other countries? ALEX: Well, I don't know if we're that different or not, but it doesn't seem like we are. I would like to say, well, good luck and have a good time with your life.

인터뷰어: 이번 주에는 무엇을 하고 지냈나요? 알렉스: 이번 주에는 뉴욕에 사는 사촌들이 내려와서 샬럿에 사는 친척들과 함께 우리 집에서 추수감사절을 보냈어요. 칠면조를 먹었고, 모두가 디저트 같은 음식을 하나씩 가져왔어요. 그리고 모두 함께 식탁에 둘러앉아 즐거운 시간을 보냈어요. 식사 후에는 게임도 했어요. 인터뷰어: 칠면조 말고도 가족의 추수감사절 전통 음식이 있나요? 알렉스: 우리는 항상 할머니가 만드시는 브로콜리 치즈 캐서롤을 먹어요. 이름은 별로 맛없어 보이지만 정말 맛있어요. 으깬 감자와 고구마도 먹었어요. 엄마는 정말 맛있는 오렌지 크랜베리 렐리시를 만드셨고, 올해는 평소와 다르게 햄도 먹었어요. 피칸 파이와 호박 치즈케이크도 먹었어요. 인터뷰어: 어떤 게임을 했나요? 알렉스: 올해는 Wii 농구와 테니스를 했어요. 인터뷰어: 금요일에 쇼핑도 했나요? 알렉스: 고모 생신이어서 샬럿에 갔고, 함께 시간을 보내며 오번과 앨라배마의 미식축구 경기를 봤어요. 엄마는 잠깐 서점에 다녀오셨지만, 그 외에는 쇼핑을 하지 않았어요. 인터뷰어: 오늘은 무엇을 하고 있었나요? 알렉스: 아빠와 함께 달리기를 했고, 음료를 마시려고 여기 들러 잠시 쉬기로 했어요. 밖은 조금 추워요. 인터뷰어: 얼마나 달리나요? 알렉스: 여기서 집까지 다시 달려가면 총 5마일이 될 거예요. 인터뷰어: 이번 주에 또 다른 일도 했나요? 알렉스: 친구들과 함께 새 해리 포터 영화를 봤는데 정말 재미있었어요. 오늘 밤에는 부모님이 함께 해리 포터 영화를 보러 가실 수 있도록 남동생과 여동생을 돌볼 거예요. 인터뷰어: 다른 나라의 아이들에게 해주고 싶은 말이 있나요? 알렉스: 우리가 그렇게 많이 다른지는 잘 모르겠지만, 별로 다르지 않은 것 같아요. 여러분 모두 행운을 빌고, 인생을 즐겁고 행복하게 보내길 바랍니다.
